Effects of Media on Body Image Essay



The keywords “disclaimer” OR “disclaimer” AND “body image” OR “body dissatisfaction” were searched in the PsycINFO and MEDLINE PubMed databases. Inclusion criteria included a primary source, peer-reviewed article, available in English, that examined the impact of media disclaimers on women's body image. The definition of body image according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary is “a subjective image of one's own physical appearance established both through self-observation and through observation of the reactions of others.
